Starting the activities of the HER project

PRESS RELEASE

Starting the activities of the HER project – Strenghtening the socio-economic integration of migrant mothers in Romania

Novapolis Association – Center of Analysis and Initiatives for Development announces the implementation of HER project – Strenghtening socio-economic integration of mothers with migration background in Romania.

The HER project started from the fact that although the integration of migrant women into the labor market can have a relevant impact on society, there are a number of barriers that they continue to face, constantly, when accessing the labor market. Among the most common are access to resources, property, education, protection, justice and decision making. To these are added a number of factors, such as gender differences, difficulties encountered in recognizing qualifications / studies and work experience, language barriers and gender-related cultural stereotypes that also hinder the process of employment and participation in the labor market.

The main objective of the HER project is to develop an educational path for mothers with migration background, especially those with fewer opportunities, and share good practices in the field of socio-economic integration and female entrepreneurship.

At the same time, HER project aims to create a connection between the migrant women with children and the labour market, through a shared learning process that can present an alternative to the double discrimination they face for both their ethnic background and the patriarchal society, and lead to the realization of their entrepreneurial ideas.

Moreover the project activities will allow the staff of the partner organizations to acquire new skills and knowledge that will help them to improve the impact of their interventions targeting the women with migration background, and to exchange experience, methods and good practices among the stakeholders, in order to improve the operational capacity of the partner organisations in the fields of adult education and women employment and entrepreneurship.

The project is implemented during November 2020 – November 2022 and it is funded by European Union, through Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2, Strategic Partnerships for adult education – Exchange of Practices, contract number 2020-1-IT02-KA204-079915. The project partnership brings together the following organizations: H.R.Y.O. Human Rights Youth Organization from Italy, Association of Renaissance Institute from Turkey, Novapolis Association from Romania, SYSTSERV from Greece and Independent Trade Union Confederation FETICO from Spain.
