Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) in Romania, in partnership with Novapolis Association – Center of Analysis and Initiatives for Development inform about the results of Stage I and the launching of the Stage II of the project „My Place – The Multifunctional Cultural Center- a bridge to the integration of third-country nationals (TCNs) in Romania“.
The project is funded by the European Fund for Integration of third-country nationals, under the General Program “Solidarity and Management of Migration Flows” (ref: IF/12.02-04.01/2013) of the European Union, managed in Romania by the Ministry of Internal Affairs through the Schengen Directorate as Responsible Authority and the General Immigration Inspectorate as Contracting Authority.
The second Stage of the project is implemented from July 2014 until June 2015.
The general objective of the project is to support the foreigners’ communities, third-country nationals (TCNs) by sustaining the Multifunctional Cultural Center My Place along with the development within the Centre of social, recreational, educational and cultural activities, that facilitate an adequate environment for multi and intercultural activities, implemented with the assistance and direct involvement of TCNs.
Direct beneficiaries of the project are the third-country nationals with legal stay on the Romanian territory, including TCNs with permanent stay or with family reunification visa, students, workers and foreigners who are family members of Romanian citizens etc.
The results of Stage I include:
• Creating a number of 12 areas for indoors activities and one field for outdoor activities within the Multifunctional Center My Place;
• Implementing an information campaign to promote My Place Center and its activities;
• Consulting and informing foreigners’ communities – 25 briefings and discussions with target group;
• Involving intercultural mediators and activities facilitators as well as other supporters (NGOs, volunteers, community leaders, institutions, etc.) – 10 cultural mediators / facilitators / trained volunteers;
• Developing Needs Analysis Report and Synthesis of Socio-educational, Cultural, Recreational Activities and The Profile of Target Group;
• Creating a web page and a Facebook page for online communities of Multifunctional Center My Place;
• Organizing of promotional and visibility activities: 3,000 promotional elaborated items (flyers, brochures, posters, etc.); one created sample of newsletter; 1 opening public event; one information point created within the Centre;
• Punctual collaborations for informing and consulting third-country nationals’ communities and/or developing some socio-educational, cultural and recreational activities. Examples: Centrul de Resurse Civice, Asociația Apel, ADO SAH ROM, CIS Brasov, Institutul Intercultural Timisoara;
• A total number of 166 socio-educational, cultural and recreational activities were organized and a total of 2,794 TCNs participated to My Place Center activities.
