Y‑Turnout EU – Youth Tackling UnderRepresentation by uNiting citizens in stigma-free pOlicymaking on sexual and reproductive health righTs, 101252792 — Y-Turnout EU — CERV-2025-CITIZENS-CIV it is a European initiative dedicated to increasing young people’s democratic participation and reducing the gender gap in civic engagement.
Y‑Turnout EU gives you the opportunity to connect with young people from Romania and 10 other European cities and to exchange ideas on topics that directly affect you — such as safe and respectful relationships, protection against gender‑based violence, or questions related to family planning.
Here, you can meet experts and decision‑makers from your city to explore new ways to better inform and support young people in Romania and across Europe.
Project Objectives
- Empower young Europeans to actively shape EU, national and local policies
- Use sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) as a key policy area intersecting gender equality, healthcare access and social justice
- Engage diverse and marginalized youth, including Roma, Muslim, migrant and LGBTQIA+ communities ● Strengthen participatory democracy and European citizenship
Key Activities
- Y-SRHR Advocacy Action: equipping young people with advocacy skills to influence decision-making
- Y-Caring Democracy Forums: structured dialogues in 10 cities between youth, grassroots leaders, professionals and local policymakers
- Meaningful Y-EU Transnational Events: simulations of European Parliament committees (FEMM, SANT, LIBE, etc.)
- Y-Turnout EU Manifesto: youth-driven policy proposal presented at a Brussels roundtable
Expected Impact
- 700 EU citizens directly engaged and 25,500+ reached across 10 EU Member States
- Amplified youth voices in policymaking at all governance levels
- Strengthened European citizenship, inclusive participation and gender equality, ensuring SRHR remains a priority on the EU agenda
