
SUBLIME – SDGs Unite Border communities as Leaders of Inclusiveness, Mobilisation and Empowerment
SUBLIME SDGs’ promotes active citizenship, offers educational experiences, and encourages tangible actions for climate and gender justice. By fostering an appreciation for diversity and active citizenship, the project brings people together within their community and connects them with decision-makers.
The project helps EU residents addressing the global challenges in border regions to gain a deeper understanding of the complexity of the UN 2030 Agenda and seizing opportunities offered by the climate transition and gender equality. By engaging citizens and policy-makers alike, the project envisions change that ripples from local to global levels.

SUBLIME SDGs is an action promoted by Local Authorities engaging EU citizens in global sustainable development and responses to global challenges funded by the Raising public awareness of development issues and promoting development education in the European Union (DEAR Programme).

Total eligible cost of the action: EUR 5 965 174
Maximum amount of EU contribution: EUR 5 368 656,60 (90%)
The expected results of the project are:
- Local communities in Border Towns and Islands (with a specific focus on educators, youths and volunteers) are empowered to co-design and engage in climate actions and in the promotion of sustainable lifestyles.
- Gender-mainstreamed solutions are promoted at local and international level by Border Town and Islands to address the climate crisis for the benefit of European societies, stakeholders and policy- makers.
- Citizens of Borders Towns and Islands and of 11 target countries are informed and engaged in promoting gender equality in the context of sustainable development.
- National policy-makers and EU-neighborhood country LA partners are engaged in the dialogue about gender equality and its mainstreaming in local and national policies.
- In relation to climate change, circular economy and responsible lifestyles, the project makes efforts to provide target groups with knowledge and tools, and empowering them to become active stakeholders for positive and lasting sustainable change, promote a culture of civic engagement which is conscious of and sensitive to environmental sustainability. Participation of women and girls will be prioritized.
