Under the strengthening institutional capacities for responsible public discourse component of the ConstantaAID4Ukrainians: Help for Ukrainian Refugees and TCNs in Constanta and the South-East Region project, a series of online trainings and awareness activities were organized between 2023 and 2026 in order to promote informed, inclusive, and responsible communication on migration, integration, and refugee-related issues, including the role of media narratives and the impact of fake news.
In 2023, five online trainings involving over 60 participants were conducted for representatives of local authorities, NGOs, mass media, and other stakeholders, focusing on the analysis of public discourse, communication on migration, and the identification of misinformation trends.
The initiative continued throughout 2024 with four online trainings on public discourse on migration, integration, and the impact of fake news, attended by a total of 117 participants representing public institutions, NGOs, media representatives, and other relevant stakeholders.
During 2025–2026, four additional online trainings on migration, integration, and combating fake news reached 153 participants.
Through these activities, the project contributed to strengthening institutional awareness, promoting balanced public communication, countering misinformation, and encouraging a more inclusive and informed approach toward refugees and migrant communities in the South-East region of Romania.
