The project “SAFE: Social Awareness for (war) Experience”, ERASMUS+ program contract no. 2024-1-DE04-KA220-YOU-000243072, aims to equip youth workers in European countries with the tools and methods necessary to facilitate dialogue on war and peace, particularly in the context of the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine.
This project is driven by the need for inclusive spaces where young protection seekers from Ukraine can share their experiences, and local youth can engage in meaningful discussions on the impact of war.
It consists of three main directions:
- collecting narratives from young people through “storytelling rooms”;
- developing and testing educational methods;
- creating a toolkit to help youth workers handle discussions on war and peace in heterogeneous groups.
Main activities of the project are:
- Project management
- Training of trainers’ program
- Local training sessions for youth workers on how to establish and lead “Storytelling rooms“
- Establishing “Storytelling rooms” and collecting narratives of young people – at least 100 interviews with young people conducted
- Publication and dissemination of project results – at least 500 relevant stakeholders, including local NGOs, educators, policy makers and academia reached
- Development of the toolkit – practical methods and recommendations for talking with young people about war and peace – at least 100 young people participating in the multipliers´ activities during the phase “Testing recommendations”
The project aims to bridge intercultural divides, support the integration of protection seekers, and enhance collaboration between European youth workers and their Ukrainian counterparts.
