Description and Purpose of the project

The project Eyes on Migrants (EoM) – Solidar and inclusive communities for immigrants in Romania aims to promote active, multidimensional and multi-sectoral involvement and an attitude of acceptance, solidarity and tolerance in the protection of human rights and equal treatment of immigrants, especially asylum seekers and refugees, by working together at local level, as well as through information and awareness campaigns on immigration among children and young people.

Through this project we will contribute to the deconstruction of stereotypes and prejudices about immigration and to the improvement of the integration process of migrants and refugees in Romania. At the same time, the project will promote mechanisms and best practices of inter-institutional cooperation and with the NGO sector, as well as models of public communication with local citizens in the field of human rights management and promotion of immigration, with a focus on the inclusion of immigrants and refugees in local communities to be taken over, adapted and implemented in other areas, regions and counties in Romania.

Direct beneficiaries of the project

  • minimum 1000 children and young people in schools in Bucharest, Galați, Constanța, Giurgiu, Rădăuțiand Craiova, who will participate in the project activities and will be directly involved in the information and awareness campaign carried out at the level of these communities;
  • minimum 40 teacherswho will participate in information and training sessions on human rights and equal treatment for immigrants, and the integration of immigrants in Romania;
  • minimum 120 representatives of local/central public authorities, NGOs, migrant associations, syndicate, representatives of the private sector ho will participate in the project events and actions;
  • o minimum 40 members of the media and communication departments within the public authorities, and other representatives of these institutions who will participate in information and training sessions.
  • minimum 20 migrants/intercultural mediators involved in the project activities. Because special attention will be paid to the issue of gender-based violence, the participation of migrant women will be encouraged, who will share their experiences.

The objectives of the project

  • O1: Raising awareness of the issue of immigrants and promoting an attitude of acceptance, tolerance and solidarity among at least 1000 young people, at least 220 representatives of public authorities, NGOs, the media and Romanian citizens, the general public , to develop a culture of democracy and respect for human rights for immigrants and refugees, through activities carried out at the regional level in Bucharest, Constanța, Craiova, Galați, Rădăuți, Giurgiu;

  • O2: Promoting good practice mechanisms and models for inter-institutional cooperation and with the NGO sector as well as public communication with local citizens in the field of human rights management and promotion of immigration, with a focus on the inclusion of immigrants and refugees in local communities to be taken over, adapted and implemented in other areas, regions and counties in Romania;

  • O3: Conducting a research study on public and social media discourse in Romania on immigration and refugees and developing the ability to communicate, identify fake news and build accurate information campaigns, based on real facts on migration and integration, through training activities representatives of the media, public authorities, teachers and other relevant actors at central and local level;

  • Capacity building objective Increase the organizational capacity of the Applicant and Partners by developing transparent procedures responsible for organizational governance and professional communication to the general public of the activities and results of the organization and the development of skills among employees through training and development courses in various fields (public procurement, training, non-formal education, social work, psychology, accounting, management, etc.).

EoM Project
