The project CDMiR: A common vision for migrant and refugee integration in Romania – a step towards better coordination in the field
The Romanian National Council for Refugees Foundation, together with the Center for Public Innovation and the Novapolis Association – Center of Analysis and Initiatives for Development, announces the launch of the CDMiR project: A common vision for migrant and refugee integration in Romania.
The beginning of the project was marked by the organization of an online conference on May 19, 2021, an event that brought together representatives of major institutions and organizations active, both nationally and in Europe, in the field of migration and integration of foreigners in Romania, as well as migrants and member organizations of the Coalition for the Rights of Migrants and Refugees (CDMiR).
On this occasion, a series of discussions and interventions on the integration of migrants and refugees in Romania took place – challenges and opportunities, cooperation between civil society organizations at European level, the experience of integration in Romania and work with migrants and refugees in our country.
Project implemented by the Romanian National Council for Refugees Foundation in partnership with the Center for Public Innovation and Novapolis Association – Center of Analysis and Development Initiatives, with the financial support of the Active Citizens Fund Romania, programme funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014-2021.
The aim of the project is to strengthen the advocacy and communication capacity, representativeness and sustainability of the Coalition for the Rights of Migrants and Refugees – CDMiR, in order to develop and support a favourable framework and a common vision for the integration of immigrants and refugees in Romania.
CDMiR brings together 23 non-governmental organizations, being the only Coalition of Romanian civil society active in the field of migration, asylum and integration.
The duration of the project is 24 months, being implemented between April 1st, 2021 – March 31st, 2023. The estimated total eligible cost of the project is 185,102 Euro.

About Active Citizens Fund Romania
***The Active Citizens Fund Romania programme is funded through the EEA Grants 2014-2021. The overall objective of the Grants is to reduce economic and social disparities, and to strengthen bilateral relations between 15 beneficiary countries and the Donor States (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). About CDMiR
The Coalition for the Rights of Migrants and Refugees (CDMiR) was established in early 2017, initially bringing together a number of 11 non-governmental organizations with experience in the field of migration, anti-discrimination, human rights and public policy.
To date, it is the only Coalition of Romanian civil society active in the field of migration, asylum and integration.
In the first three years of activity, the number of member organizations of the coalition doubled, reaching CDMiR to include 23 NGOs from all regions of Romania, as well as 5 supporters from academia and international organizations. CDMiR members cover a wide range of areas of expertise, including research, advocacy, material, legal and medical assistance, cultural guidance and dialogue.

The Romanian National Council for Refugees Foundation is a non-governmental organization founded in 1998 and with the status of a public utility organization since 2003.
